It is used to clean fabrics, eliminate water hand washing. It also reduces human effort. From this Dry cleaning machines uses non water based solvents to remove soil and stains from cloth.

Further, it has also overcome the problems of color loss and color bleed and unlike TCE and PCE. Hydrocarbon is not cancerous.
